WIX VERSUS WEEBLY

1) Based on your experience, which web design tool did you like the best? Please explain. Give examples.
Both Wix and Weebly are the well-known, useful and professional platforms to build a professional website. According to my experience Wix is easy to use for me and has more features than Weebly. For instance, I could not drag and drop some elements wherever I wanted when I used Weebly. But Wix allowed me to drop elements on my web page to get exact look I wanted. Almost all of buttons have subcategories, for instance when you click on add element button, it will open new buttons for you like add text, images, music etc. At the beginning I had a hard time to discover the wix features when I built my website but It seemed to me easier later on.
The other feature that I liked to work on wix is it has more tools and wide range of templates covering different subjects that allow you to create a professional website. When I tried to find a good template to create a website by using weebly, it was kind of difficult for me to get more options I desired.
2 ) Compare the free version of Wix and Weebly.
To make a good comparison between free version of wix and Weebly is not easy for me because both platforms have many cons and pros, but as far as I can see that I enjoyed much more when I used Wix to create my website than Weebly.
Weebly vs Wix
1- Wix has much more templates than weebly, and wix’s templates are more advanced and updated.
2- Weebly has more apps than wix.
3- You cannot change the Wix template but can Weebly template.
4- Wix ‘s drag and drop feature is easier than Weebly.
5- Both Wix and Weebly offer SEO support.
6- You can add video easily to both of them.
7- Both Weebly and Wix have mobile version.
3) For what type of website (e.g. e-commerce, blog, fundraiser, resume/CV site) would you prefer Wix as your design tool?
Wix is useful website builder for restaurants, hotels, musicians, photographer and creative people. I think I would prefer wix when I create our school’s website.
4) For what type of website (e.g. e-commerce, blog, fundraiser, resume/CV site) would you prefer Weebly as your design tool?
Weebly is useful for bloggers, crating online store, e-commerce and I would like to use weebly when I create my personal blog.
MY COURSE REFLECTION

First of all, I would like to thank Dr. Yilmaz who is very helpful and understanding instructor. When I was creating my websites I had some difficulties couple of times because I am a visual person who need to see steps and procedures, and he answered my questions in timely manner and helped me to fix the problems.
Before starting this course, I did not have too much knowledge about what we would learn. I just made a prediction that we would learn how to design websites and some tools which I can use educational purpose when I see the course title, Web Design and Web 2.0 Tools. My predictions did not mislead me and I can admit that I learned a lot how to design a website and what are the productivity, games, learning and teaching technology tools.
During this course, we created different projects like websites from various different platforms, infographic and web 2.0 tolls which are mostly educational purpose. One of my favorites was infographic which is really enjoying to design it. I tried to discover new web tools which I have not used before and practice them for my classes. Some of them worked very well but some not.
Overall, I noticed that there are numerous web tools we can use in every level of classroom, and most of them have free versions that enable us to use unless register. Before this course, I used to use some of web tools, and me and my students are gotten a lot of benefits through using those tools. I am the one who likes to use technology tools and integrate them into classroom because using technology increases my students’ interest to topics and participation, help them work as a team when they do a group work on computer, provide them numerous sources to improve their understanding and knowledge. I hope I will constantly update myself about recent tech tools, and with other technology courses that I will take will be able to enhance my skills.
